It was anything but a quiet affair when the Brighton duo Lambrini Girls took to the stage at the Roskilde Festival in 2025 and gave us all a proper lesson in unadulterated riot grrrl attitude and blistering punk. The music website Devilution wrote in a glowing review that the duo “set both the audience and the patriarchy on fire”. Lambrini Girls are certainly ready to do just that again when they return to the festival with their brand-new album, No Refunds.
As early as 2023, Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Lilly Macieira (bass) shook up the British music scene thoroughly with their catchy, humorous and furious EP You’re Welcome. A release that introduced the world to Lambrini Girls’ electrifying mix of raw punk, noise rock and powerful hooks, spiced with scathing attacks on nationalism and chauvinism.
That blend really came into its own on their debut album Who Let The Dogs Out, which Lambrini Girls had just released ahead of their first gig at the Roskilde Festival. The album received rave reviews. “Lambrini Girls are the punk rock radicals we need right now,” wrote Rolling Stone. And the band’s explosive live performances in the wake of the album have set expectations high for the follow-up.
The world has not become any less chaotic since Lambrini Girls released their debut album, and No Refunds certainly takes the duo’s music in an even darker and more radical direction. Their fighting spirit remains intact, however, as they grapple on the album with a dystopian present where crises are piling up, fascism is on the rise and the world is threatened by war, climate collapse and AI. These times call for a harsh medicine, and Lambrini Girls are bringing it to Roskilde Festival this summer.
