Get ready to broaden your horizons as to what electronic club music from Latin America can be, as the two forward-thinking musicians and DJs, Lechuga Zafiro and Verraco, bring their joint project, Hyperverbena, to Roskilde Festival.
Hyperverbena unfolds as a hybrid project that brings together DJ culture, electronic live music and evocative visuals, whilst also serving as a platform for dialogue between two artists with roots in Uruguay and Colombia respectively, who share a common interest in exploring the dance floor as a forum for examining and expanding notions of identity. The duo deconstructs clichés about Latin American club culture and embraces the concept of “sudaca”, a term usually used pejoratively to describe Latin American culture, but which, in the duo’s hands, becomes a celebration of a vibrant, complex and unpredictable spirit.
This unpredictability and diversity are also evident in the duo’s concerts, which offer a cornucopia of captivating rhythms from genres such as dembow and cumbia, combined with an ever-experimental musical approach and an aesthetic that evokes the contrasts between the aggressive and the sensual.
Hyperverbena made its world premiere at the Berlin Atonal festival in 2025. There, the concert was highlighted as one of the festival’s most epic dance parties by the magazine Metal, which hailed the show as a “moment of outright euphoria”. With their arsenal of complex electronic beats, superb DJ skills and wide-ranging musical horizons, Lechuga Zafiro and Verraco are now ready to bring the euphoria to Roskilde Festival with a sweaty dance party.
