South African house-inspired dance music amapiano has really made its mark on the global music scene in recent years. The singer Tyla has quickly become one of the genre’s biggest stars and a terrific ambassador who, by blending amapiano music with modern pop and R&B, has created a sound that has taken the world by storm.

The young singer already became a hot name on the South African scene in 2019 with the single "Getting Late", but it was the 2023 hit "Water" that secured her a massive international breakthrough. Since then, Tyla has gone from strength to strength, with her debut album Tyla from 2024 establishing herself as an undeniable name on the global pop scene.

"South Africa's brightest new star" NME called her in a review, and the debut album has been featured on several lists of releases of the year in 2024. But Tyla is also something as rare as a debut album that moves from one banger to the next with enormous confidence, combining modern pop sounds, a personal voice and local music traditions.

In the wake of her debut album, Tyla was due to perform her first Danish concert at Roskilde Festival in 2024. Unfortunately, she had to cancel that concert. So it's great news that the South African pop comet is finally ready to visit Denmark and Roskilde Festival, where her danceable fusion of pop and amapiano could very well be the summer party of the year.
